Camellia Shield Bug
This piece of work is part of my “Beetle” series, where I draw inspiration from the mesmerizing colours and intricate patterns seen on the Camellia Shield Bug. Using a blend of wool fibres in shades of blue, green, turquoise, and orange, I have needle-felted my interpretation of the colourful bug onto a 100% wool felt background. The detailing and texture is then added through a unique blend of free machine and hand embroidery techniques. This artwork is float mounted and framed, ready to hang and admire.
